Curtis L. Broten


         Curtis L. Broten, 42, of Maddock, ND, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at his home.  Funeral services will be Monday, September 27th, 2010,  11:00 AM at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Maddock.  Casket bearers will be:  Craig Arnold,  Kevin Gigstad,  Ryan Knatterud,  Jason Knatterud,  Dave Lauinger,  Ron Lauinger, Kyle Sabbe and John A. Wood.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock.

     Curtis Lee Broten was born July 22, 1968, at Maddock, ND, to Harvey and Fay (Johnson) Broten.  He was raised in Maddock, attended the Maddock Public School and graduated in 1988.  Curtis also attended college in Devils Lake.  During high school, he worked for Jay Rice of Maddock.  Curtis has been employed over the years by Kevin Gigstad, Roger and Kyle Sabbe.  He married Wanda Hansen March 18, 2004.

     Curtis was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. Following the closing of Immanuel, he became a member of North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock.  Curtis enjoyed NASCAR, demo derbies, the Dallas Cowboys and his dogs.

     Surviving is his wife:  Wanda of Maddock;  step-sons:  Casey and Corey Hansen both of Fargo;  his mother Fay Broten of Devils Lake;  sisters:  Tamara Broten of Rugby & Shelly Broten of Fargo;  2 nieces:  Ashley Duren and Lindsay Peterson; a nephew:  Erik Broten;  numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

     He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
