Adeline I. Dickinson's Obituary
Adeline I. Dickinson, 89, of Maddock, ND, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care in Rugby. Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday, June 6, 2013, 10:00 AM at the Maddock Community Center in Maddock, with Fr. Christopher Darby, celebrant. Rosary recitation will be Thursday 9:30AM at the community center. Burial will be in the Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in St. Mary's, Kansas on Monday June 10th.
Adeline was born on June 29, 1923 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, the youngest of six children of Thomas and Sophie Melvin. She married Donald D. Dickinson and had five children. Over the years she lived in South Dakota, Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and North Dakota. She spent the last few years of her life at the Maddock Memorial Home.
Adeline was a committed traditional Catholic who followed the pre-Vatican II practices of the Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Crookston, Minnesota and traveled there for the traditional Latin Mass until her health no longer allowed.
She enjoyed discussing politics and religion with family and friends over coffee and cigarettes. She also enjoyed sightseeing, reading, and collecting books and religious goods.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband: Don; sons: Jerome and Donald and a daughter Terry Stadum.
She is survived by her daughter Sister Mary Joseph of Kansas City, Missouri; a son: Jerry (Carol) Dickinson of Rock Springs, Wyoming; a son-in-law: Gary Stadum of Esmond, ND; nine grandchildren: Tom (Lisa) Stadum of Sturgis, SD, Ron Stadum of Esmond, Jim (Laurie) Stadum of Rugby, Laura (Don) Chadwick of Acworth, GA, Becky (Allen) Brandvold, Michelle Eyl and Marnie (Brent) Olson all of Maddock, Petra (Shawn) Larkin of Bowman, ND and John (Melanie) Stadum of St. Louis, MO; 34 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
