Obituary

Agnes I. Tufte,  89, of Lakota, ND formerly of Harlow and Maddock, ND,  died Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Lakota.  Graveside services will be Saturday, May 31st, 2014, 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, at Harlow with Pastor Richard Budd officiating.  A Time of Gathering and Sharing will follow at 11:00 AM in the Harlow VFW Hall.

Agnes was born in Harlow, ND, to Anton and Inga Gunderson on July 19, 1924.  Her early years were spent on the family farm north of Harlow. Agnes attended  schools in Harlow  and Rugby and worked for local  farmers.

On November  23, 1945, Agnes married Elmer Tufte. They resided in Harlow,  ND, where they  farmed and raised their family. After  retirement, the couple moved to Maddock, ND for several years.  Elmer passed away in 1995.  Agnes had resided at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in  New Rockford, and  the Good  Samaritan Center in Lakota since  2002.

Agnes was a  member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church her entire life,  participating in the  Ladies Aid gatherings. She was a Charter member of the  Harlow VFW Post  Auxiliary, serving as Treasurer for over twenty years. She  was a past President  of the Benson County Heart Association. Agnes enjoyed  traveling, cooking and  baking for large harvest crews and family get-togethers,  fishing, playing  cards, visiting with her friends.

Agnes is  survived by her children: Dennis (Colette) Tufte , Devils  Lake, ND;   Erling  (Beth) Tufte, Cottage Grove, MN;   Linda Hellerud, Laughlin,  NV; and Arlen Tufte,  Fontana, CA; her grandchildren: John Tufte, Kari Tufte Lind,  Darren Jorgenson,  Leanne Hellerud, Jerome Tufte, Jesse Tufte, several  great- grandchildren; her brothers Gilmen  Gunderson, York, ND, and  Roy (Travis) Gunderson, Buffalo, WY,  sister-in-law Fern  Tufte, Rugby, ND.

She was  preceded in death by her husband;   parents;  grandchildren:  Michael Tufte and  Daniel Tufte; a brother:  Alvin Gunderson and sister:  Gena  Gronvold,  Evelyn Morkert,   Nina Berg.
