Obituary

Aldwin (Al) Travis Halvorson, firstborn son to Fred and Agnes (Sinness) Halvorson was born in Culton, Oregon May 15, 1935.  He died April 18, 2023, in St. Paul Minnesota.  He was survived by his sister Pam, two children Todd and Holly, and his four grandchildren Josh, Chloe, Blair, and Quinn.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Minnewaukan, ND.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at the West Minnewaukan Lutheran Free Cemetery in rural Minnewaukan, ND.

Al was raised on a farm in Benson County, ND.  He graduated from the Benson County Agricultural School in 1954 and volunteered and served in the army until 1961.  In 1966 he received a B.A. from the University of Washington and a Business Degree from Central Michigan University in 1994.

In the late sixties and early seventies Al worked as a strategic marketing specialist for the Northern Pacific Railroad and the Onan Corporation in Minneapolis MN.  He worked for American Hoist and Derek as a transportation and distribution manager in Bay City MI in the eighties and finished his career at the Department of the Defense (Army) in Newport News VA.

He retired to Williamsburg VA and later moved to St. Paul MN and lived with his sister Pam.

Al's Hobbies included sport trading cards and coin collecting.    He was a member of many R.C. airplane and model railroad clubs.  In his later years he enjoyed camping with his sister and their friends.

Al married Kathryn in 1966, they divorced in 1979.  They raised two children Todd and Holly.
