Annastaisia "Anna" was born on March 31, 1917, on the family farm near Wellsburg, North Dakota, to Alois and Rose (Martel) Dosch.  She was one of 16 children.  She attended school at North Fork Country School in Benson County through the 7 th grade.  She had to quit school because she had to help work on the family farm. She learned to tend the animals and fruit trees and plow the fields with a team of horses. She lived through some hard times like the Great Depression and WWII.

Anna was united in marriage to Jerome Neis on August 4, 1947.  They were married just a week short of 54 years, when Jerome passed away on July, 28, 2001. They owned and operated the Esmond Bar and Bowling Alley for 7 years after they were married before selling it and buying their farmstead just west of Esmond in 1953.  They farmed and raised their three children, Larry, Linda, and Bonnie here.  Anna and the kids kept the farm going while Jerome worked road construction. She was never afraid of hard work.  Anna was a homemaker for most of her life.  She liked to cook, bake, sew and crochet.  She made many afghans, dollies and quilts.  She was well known for her wedding kuchen and homemade apple pies. If you ever left her house after visiting hungry, it was your own fault.  She worked for Benson County Social Services for over 20 years as a home health aide and retired when she was 80 years old.  Anna and Jerome enjoyed many trips and vacations across the Country after they had both retired.  It was well known that they loved to play Bingo and the penny slot machines at St. Michael's Casino.  Anna enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Anna moved off the family farm in 2011 and into an apartment in Harvey.  She was a very independent lady and never wanted to be a bother to anyone.  She continued to drive her own car until the age of 103 and lived on her own until April 2022 at the age of 105.  To know Anna was to love her.  She leaves behind her a great legacy.  She will be greatly missed by her loving immediate family, a large extended family and many friends.

Anna is survived by her 3 children: Larry Neis, Esmond, ND; Linda Jorgens, Scranton, ND; Bonnie (Gary) Dockter, Anamoose, ND;  eight grand children: Lee (Alyssa) Neis, Lincoln, ND; Sara (Tom Smith) Nolden, Minot, ND; Jennifer (Royce) Shoemaker, Fergus Falls, MN; Eric (Billie) Jorgens, Scranton, ND; Jill (Justin) Anderson, Scranton, ND; Bret (Karissa) Dockter, Harvey, ND; Chad (Nicole) Dockter, Bismarck, ND; Christina (Brandon) Wolf, Tucson, Az; 17 great-grandchildren: Jacob Neis, Ethan and Emily Nolden, Anna Jo Shoemaker, Joshwa, William & Tonlin Jorgens, Hailey Ringham, Ryder Anderson, Karlie, Emma & Brooklyn Dockter, Elliot, Caleb & Kendra Dockter, Taylor & Jace Wolf; one great-greatgrandchild, Zeke Nolden.
