Ardelle Bernice Soggie, 92, of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Oberon, ND passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND with Pastor Tom Westcott officiating. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery in Oberon, ND. Honorary Casket Bearers will be all of Ardelle's grandchildren: Jeff Zetter, Todd Zetter, Jesse Soggie, Jeremy Soggie, Alicia Soggie, Jodelle Gefroh and Camie Schwan.

Ardelle Bernice Soggie was born October 2, 1924 to John and Olivia (Dahl) Nelson in Leeds, ND. The family moved to their father's homestead north of Oberon where Ardelle was raised. She began her education in Oberon and finished high school in Neillsville, WI while helping her sister. Ardelle found employment cleaning family's homes until the war began. She then worked in a shipyard during the war effort riveting. Ardelle was united in marriage to Marvin A. Soggie on August 20, 1942 in National Park, NJ.

Following Marvin's discharge from the Army, the couple returned to Oberon and farmed. The couple moved into Oberon in 1968 and Marvin continued to farm until retiring in 1988. Marvin passed away in 1995. Ardelle continued to live in Oberon for 14 years following Marvin's passing, before moving to Devils Lake where she has since resided. Her main focus in life was her family. She loved when her family visited and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ardelle enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and tending her vegetable garden. Animals had a special place in her heart, especially her faithful dog, Lady. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon and worked with ladies group at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Ardelle was survived by her children: Marlene (Lew) Maddox of Portland, OR, Cheryl (Jack) Volk of Devils Lake, ND, Michael (Sandra) Soggie of Devils Lake, ND and Curtis Soggie of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jeff Zetter, Todd Zetter, Jesse Soggie, Jeremy Soggie, Alicia Soggie, Jodelle Gefroh and Camie Schwan ;many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law's, Burnice Stenberg of Sheyenne, ND and Delores (Russel) Hopkins of Devils Lake, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Olivia (Dahl) Nelson; her husband, Marvin A. Soggie; brother, Johnnie Nelson; sisters, Doris Weber, Eva Mosser and Hazel Dooley.
