Argie Mae Bellerud, a.k.a. "Grandma Hoots" or "Aunt Tillie", 102, of Esmond, ND, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, August 31, 2025 under the care of hospice.   Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September13, 2025 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond with Pastor Cassie Borges officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.   Burial will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Argie Mae was born July 4, 1923 to Joseph and Martha (Mauer) College in Binford, ND.  She was raised and educated in Binford, where she attended country school through eighth grade.  Following her educating, Argie continued to help her parents on the farm with various chores and duties.  Upon visiting her brother, Edward in the late 1940's, Argie met her future husband, Harold.  Argie and Harold were united in marriage on February 9, 1950 at the county courthouse in Devils Lake, ND.  The couple welcomed three children to union, Margie, Harold Jr. and Denise.

Argie and Harold farmed one mile south of Esmond for many years.  During this time, Argie also worked as a substitute rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service, along with farming and raising her family.  Harold passed away on June 13, 1963, in which time Argie continued to farm with her brother, Harvey.  Argie retired in 1978 and moved in Esmond, where she continued to live until her passing.  Esmond held a special place in Argies heart, where the residence became part of her extended family.

Argie enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, spontaneous trips to the casino, gardening, baking, and was famous for her buns and doughnuts.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Argie is survived by her daughter, Margie Thomas of Lincoln, ND, (Justin and Jessica Thomas of Bismarck, ND, JD and Levi Thomas), Jade Thomas of Lincoln, ND and Kyle Thomas of Bismarck, ND; son, Harold Bellerud Jr. of Esmond, ND, and daughter, Denise (Donnie) Grossman of Rugby, ND (Jamey and Nicole Grossman of Bismarck, Danica, Kate, and Camden Grossman).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, Joseph and Martha College; son-in-law, Blair Thomas; siblings, Ed College, Harvey College, Harold College, Joe College, Peggy Simonson, Betty Simmons, Lucille Harding, Dorothy Schwab, and Alice Prosser.
