Arne was born July 31, 1939 to Arnold S. and Cora (Paulson) Nestegard in Leeds. He was baptized and confirmed at North Prairie Church and was educated in Leeds. Arne graduated from Leeds High School and furthered his education at North Dakota State University in Fargo. He was united in marriage to Irene L. Cowan on October 5, 1963 in Leeds and lived in Fargo. In 1965 Arne and Irene moved to Minot with their two small children, Nancy and Robert, where he was employed with GMAC until 1976.

Arne went back into farming with his dad, Arnold S., north of Leeds. Growing seasons were spent on the farm in Leeds and winter months were spent at their home in Minot. Arne continued commuting to Minot in the winter months until he sold his house in Minot in 2010 and moved to his farmhouse permanently. Arne never retired from farming, even when he rented his land out. Arne could be found driving tractor into the late hours of the evening, running for parts and whatever else to help his renter. He truly loved being a part of the crew. Finally after the crop was put in last year he decided to park the tractor and focus on keeping up with the mowing of his yards.

He was an avid member of Elk and Eagles clubs, a member of First Lutheran Church in Minot and was a member of the Leeds Lutheran Church.

He could often be found watching whatever sports that were in season and loved his Yankees and his Lakers. He is dearly missed by his family.

Arnold is survived by his son, Robert Nestegard of Warroad, MN; grandchildren, Nels Arnold Nestegard and Nissa Irene Nestegard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents, Arnold S. and Cora Nestegard; daughter, Nancy Nestegard; sister, Carole Ann Nestegard Cook.
