Bennie Duane Fossen, 71, of Maddock, ND passed away on Thursday May 18, 2017 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock, ND with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock, ND. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the North Viking Lutheran Cemetery in Maddock, ND. Music will be provided by Rachel Markestad.

Bennie Duane Fossen was born on December 12, 1945 to Bennie Sr. and Rose Mary (Schall) Fossen in Maddock, ND. He was raised and attended school in Maddock, graduating from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School in 1964. Bennie moved to Fargo, ND after graduation and started worked as a welder for a short time. He then moved to Devils Lake, ND where he worked at Ford, Mac's Hardware and Home of Economy. Bennie joined the Army National Guard in 1966. Upon his honorably discharged in 1971, he drove school bus for many years and returned to Maddock and farmed until his retirement in 2003.

Bennie enjoyed driving his classic cars, riding his motorcycle and working on various projects at the farm. He loved spending time with his family, playing Pinochle and visiting.

Bennie is survived by his children, Duane Fossen, Sheli (Chris) Devier of Arvilla, ND, Mitchell (Yvonne) Fossen and Kyle Fossen of Maddock, ND; grandchildren, Kevin Fossen, Koty Fossen Rylie Devier, Chancler Devier, Vada Fossen and Vyvyan Fossen; great grandchild, Carson Devier; siblings, Gerald Fossen of Maddock, ND, Lanny (Susan) Fossen of Maddock, ND, Ronald (Cindy) Fossen of Fargo, ND, Gary (Michelle) Fossen of West Fargo, ND, Sharon (George) Frye of Mandan, ND, Donna (Russ) Berg of Horace, ND and Judy (Mark) Boutiette of West Fargo, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Sr. and Rose Mary (Schall) Fossen.
