Bernadette Lauinger, 49, of Minot, formerly of Esmond, ND, died Thursday, January 21st, 2010, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 27, 2010,  11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond with Fr. Julian Kupisz, celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The lectors will be Tom Streifel and Ernie Streifel, with a special reading from Joy Perlichek.  Alice Wack will serve as the Eucharistic minister.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Parish Vigil and Rosary all at the church.  Casket bearers will be:  Dave Axtman,  Chad Duchscher,  Mike Merchant,  Jerry Horst,  Brock Carson and Brad Stai.  Honorary bearers:  Tom & Delila Repnow,  Joy Perlichek,  Rosalie Axtman,  Mary Schmaltz-Carlson,  Barb Koble and  Julie Straabe. Music will be from Rosalie Axtman, vocalist with Jennifer Hagen, organist.  The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock is in charge of the arrangements.

Bernie was the daughter of John Lauinger, who passed away when she was a young child.  She came to Esmond in 1972 and was raised by Benno and Teresa Lauinger.  Bernie graduated from the Esmond High School in 1978.  She worked at Herbergers in Minot for many years, which she fully enjoyed, then a couple of various jobs prior to her passing.

Bernie loved horseback riding,  camping, spending time with her family and pets,  having fun with friends and spending time with the love of her life, Steve.  She cherished her precious grandbaby, Kenya and her godchildren.  Bernie touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity all they way to the end.  She will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Bernie was the beloved companion of Steve Merchant of Minot.  She will forever be remembered by her mother, Teresa Lauinger of Esmond;  devoted brothers:  Ronald (Chris) Lauinger and David (Shannon) Lauinger both of Esmond;  beloved son:  Mitchell Paul Larson and his girlfriend, Jen Barker of Minot;  treasured grandchild:  Kenya Marley,  nieces:  Kayla, Megan, Courtney, Desirae, Renae and Allyson Lauinger;  nephews:  Drew and Dylan Lauinger, along with countless  of other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.  Bernie's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her, understood that quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

She was preceded in death by John Lauinger; a brother:  Gerald Benno Lauinger and her dog: Missy.
