Betty M. Follman, 87, of Leeds, ND,  died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, ND.  Funeral services were Monday, June 9, 2014, at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Pretzer officiating. The scriptures were read by Shari Jerde.   Burial was in the York Cemetery, York, ND.   Casket bearers were:  Steve Lewis,  Randy Follman,  Rusty Halvorson,  John Follman,  Jackson Follman,  Matthew Follman,  Christopher Cook and Tyson Follman.  Music was from Dan and MiChelle Nybo.

Betty Mae (Stoll) Follman was born March 26, 1927, to Art and Sylvia (Weirich) Stoll in Wolford, ND. She was raised there and educated at the Wolford School.  Betty worked in cook cars and a café prior to her marriage to Jack Follman on April 13, 1946 in Sidney, Montana.  They farmed near York, ND until moving to Leeds in 1979.  Jack passed away July 28, 1982.  Betty remained in Leeds until moving to Valley Elder Care at Grand Forks in June of 2008.

Betty was formerly a member of the Wolford Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid.  She was a current member of Leeds Lutheran Church, where she had been active in WELCA and quilting.  Betty was active with the Wolford PTA and had served as treasurer.  She loved to cook and bake, always having something ready for family, friends and neighbors.  Betty also enjoyed bowling with a league in Rugby for many years.  After moving to Valley Elder Care, she crocheted hundreds of caps and small afghans for infants born at Altru Hospital.  The Altru Hospital Auxiliary honored her with three certificates of appreciation for her contributions.  Above all, the love of her life was caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.   Betty was affectionately known and identified by many, both near and far, as "Gramma Betty".

She is survived by 5 children:  Terry (Maxine) Follman of Leeds,  Rick (Deb) Follman of Devils Lake,  Judy (Lee) Lewis of Mylo,  Jan Halvorson of Williston and Jackie (Loren) Knutson of Leeds;  12 grandchildren;  2 step-grandchildren;  20 great-grandchildren;  2 step-great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren;  2 brothers:  Ted (Phyllis) Stoll of Coos Bay, OR and Fred (Flo) Stoll in Ohio; a sister:  Nettie Jane Evans of Rugby and many, many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Jack, son Larry, brother Edward Stoll, and a number of sisters and brothers-in-law.

To all of Betty's family, So sorry to hear that Betty has left this earth.  When I lived in Leeds, we were in TOPS together and I just loved her.  She had such a fantastic sense of humor and could see the bright side of all that life had to offer. Betty was also so sweet to my Mom, Florence Simonsen, in her last years. I have never forgotten Betty's kindness.
