Beverly Ann Michels, 85, of Minnewaukan, ND, passed away at the Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan, ND with Pastor Luther "Lu" Mathison officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00PM at the church prior to the service. Burial will take place at the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Minnewaukan, ND. Music will be provided by Deanna Hanson and Jim Wang. Casket Bearers are Leon Pfiefer, Dave Cichos, Rudy Severinson, Jim Wang, Dan Schmaltz, Bill Webber, Shorty Hager,
Joe Bitz, Ed Schmid, Cory Erickson, Brad Sevrinson and Joel Medd.

Beverly Ann Christianson was born on May 9, 1931 in Lallie, ND at the home of her grandparents. In 1937 she moved with her parents and younger brother to Minnewaukan, ND. She attended Minnewaukan School and was a member of the 1949 graduating class. Beverly was married to Harold "Bobby" Michels on April 15, 1949 in Devils Lake, ND. Beverly taught school on Graham's Island for a short period in 1953, but then chose to stay home and raise her son, Steven.

Beverly and Bobby continued farming on Graham's Island, raising beef cattle and grain. In 1977, for health reasons, they retired from active farming. Together they enjoyed antiques and bottle collecting. Beverly worked at the Benson County Courthouse and Pung's Hardware Store. She also worked at the Graham's Island National Park for many years working lastly as an administrative assistant. Beverly was a lover of animals and appreciated the beauty of nature. She was happy being on the farm, gardening, planting flower beds; feeding birds, squirrels, strays and all who came to the home. She also enjoyed music, dancing and hosting gatherings. Hunting season and holidays brought special memories for friends and family. In the late 90's Bob and Bev moved to Devils Lake due to flooding of their beloved Graham's Island. They had great pride for the farm, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Michels of Eagan, MN and Kristi Michels of West Fargo, ND; great grandchildren, Kaylee Lyter, Zoe and Alexander Michels.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Mathea Christianson , Olaf and Anna Marie Severinson; parents, Thoralf and Minnie Christianson; brother, Alton "Sonny" Christianson; son, Steven
Michels; husband, Harold "Bobby" Michels.
