Buell Christensen, 71, of Cedar Rapids, IA, formerly of Minnewaukan, ND, died at the Hospice House of Mercy on Monday, September 12, 2011, after a battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 8th, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Minnewaukan Cemetery in Minnewaukan with Pastor Kevin Kaufmann officiating.

Buell was born April 4, 1940 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Murphy and Esther (Rask) Christensen. He was raised in Minnewaukan and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1960 where he was employed by Rockwell Collins for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Buell married Donna Zaerr on August 29, 1987. She died August 31, 1999. Buell loved boating and fishing. He will be remembered for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his children: Dawn Petersen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Curtis (Kathy) Christensen of Lincoln, NE and Buell Christensen Jr. of Mt. Vernon, IA; granddaughters: Kelley, Casey and Chloe Christensen; a sister: Ardys (Gordon) Schmid of Minnewaukan; a brother: Dean Christensen of Dickinson, ND and a sister-in-law: Gwen Christensen in Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Donna and a brother: Gary in 2004.
