Carol A. Thompson's Obituary
Carol Ann Lundin was born January 29, 1938, the daughter of Erick and Constance (Dyrud) Lundin on the family farm near Brinsmade, ND. She attended grade school at the McClellan Township school, high school in Leeds and in later years earned her GED. Carol married Donald Thompson on April 2, 1953 at Crookston, MN. The couple farmed in Riggin Township of Benson County and moved into Minnewaukan in 1990. Music was a great part of Carol's life. She started piano lessons at the age of seven and at age ten, began playing at the Brinsmade Lutheran Church. Carol taught piano lessons to many area young people and filled in as organist at St. Peter Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church in Minnewaukan. She was the current organist at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Minnewaukan until her health forced her to retire.
Carol was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, its WELCA and had served on the church council. She was worked many years at Chapman's Red Owl and Odden's Grocery in Minnewaukan and was a Mary Kay Consultant for over thirty years. Carol was active in the Democratic Party and sat on the election boards in Riggin Township and Minnewaukan for over thirty years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and attending her grandchildren's many activities.
Surviving are her husband: Don of Minnewaukan; 2 daughters: Carren (Robert) Anderson and Lori (Dwight) O'Connell all of Minnewaukan; a son: Vern (Cindy) Thompson of Fargo; 8 grandchildren: Reed Anderson, Eric (Jaque) Anderson, Kristi (Adam) Anderson, Corey (Sarah) O'Connell, Malorie (Yacouba) Traore, Sheena (Riley) Weed, Will Thompson and Kathryn Thompson; 5 great-grandchildren: Brett, Seth and Shelby O'Connell, Isabella Anderson and Chloe Weed and a sister-in-law: Marlys Hofstrand of Fargo.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother: David Lundin and a half brother: Marvin Hofstrand.

Oh my what a wonderful lady always smiled no matter what came her way.I have been thinking about the 2 summers i worked for her and Donnie on the farm and what an experiance it was. Carol, You will be dearly missed. I'm sorry you had to suffer so long. You were a courageous warrior till the end with spirits as high as the heavens.
