Obituary

Caroline Martha (Kelly) Fogelson, 96, of Leeds, ND, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds, ND. Visitation will continue from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Pastor Michael Pretzer will officiate. Interment will be held at the Leeds Lutheran Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Kelly's Grandchildren: Kyle Julson, Greg Julson, Marc Julson, Dan Fogelson, Doug Fogelson and David Fogelson. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Kelly's great grandchildren, her great great grandchild and her nieces and nephews.
Music will be provided by Irving Thompson, MiChelle Nybo and Dan Nybo.

Kelly was born August 1, 1918 to Bernt and Svanhild Axness. She was raised on the family farm South of York, ND and graduated from Leeds High School in 1937. Kelly was united in marriage to Donald (Bud) Fogelson on May 29, 1937. She was a member of the Leeds Lutheran Church, where she was the organist for many years. Kelly worked at The Palace Café, The Leeds Creamery and Fogelson's Grocery Store.

Kelly loved to sing and play the piano. She enjoyed cooking, a good game of cards, the evening ride with Bud to check the crops, the holidays and especially birthdays with family. Kelly and Bud raised two children; Sherilyn and Dennis. In 2009, Kelly moved to Devils Lake, ND, where she lived at Lake Country Manor and later at the Heartland Care Center.

Kelly is survived by her daughter, Sherilyn Julson, Dickinson, ND; her son, Dennis (Penny) Fogelson, Albertville, MN; sister, Esther (Curtis) Nordhougen, Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Sharleen Axness, Leeds, ND; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fogelson; 3 sisters, Evangeline (Elmer) Olson; Mildred (Lloyd) Kirkeide; Burnell (Royce) LaGrave; 2 brothers, Lawrence (Arleen) Axness and Erling Axness.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials preferred to Leeds Ambulance Service, Leeds Lutheran Cemetery Fund, Leeds Public Swimming Pool, Leeds Library and Leeds Fire Department.
