Obituary

Dagny Sundell, 97, of Marysville, WA, formerly of Maddock, ND, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Marysville.  Funeral services were held in Arlington, WA on Friday, December 28, 2012.  Burial was Monday, December 31, 2012 at North Viking Lutheran Cemetery in Maddock with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.

Dagny Wang was born December 21, 1914 in Maddock, ND to Olaus and Lottie (Evenhus) Wang.  She was educated at the Maddock Public School and the Benson County Agricultural and Training School.  On October 24, 1938, Dagny married Paul E. Sundell at North Viking Lutheran Church.  Following the election of Paul as sheriff of Benson County in 1943, the family moved to Minnewaukan.  The family later lived in Fargo, Mandan and Jamestown, ND.  In 1967, Dagny and Paul moved to Stanwood, WA.  The couple managed a motel near Anacortes, WA.  Paul Sundell passed away in 1973.  Dagny moved to Fargo and was employed at St. Luke's Hospital for three years.  She then moved back to Washington to be near her family.

Dagny was a member of the Lutheran Church and Moose Lodge.  She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and was well known for her Lefse.

Surviving are her children:  Audrey Erickson of Marysville,  WA,  Paul (Karen) Sundell, Jr., of Yuma, AZ,  Cheryl (Ray) Hammer of Marysville, WA and Steven Sundell of Federal Way, WA;  11 grandchildren;  24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband:  Paul, Sr.,  granddaughter:  Stacy Murrietta;  brother  and sisters:  Olaf,  Hilma,  Sophie, Viola and Thora.
