Daniel R.
"Dunt" Scott
Dec 13, 1958 — May 27, 2024
Leeds
Daniel R. "Dunt" Scott, son of Robert "Bob" and Lucille (Oberlander) was born December 13, 1958 in Bismarck, North Dakota. He died at the age of 65 on May 27th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at his home. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds with Pastor Sharon Baker officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Cando Youth Hockey Booster P.O. Box 882 Cando, ND 58324.
Danny was raised in Cando where he graduated high school in 1977. He was active in playing hockey and keeping busy by hunting and fishing. After graduation, he ventured west to Oregon where he lived with family and worked in a lumber mill returning home in 1983.
His passion to build led him to work for Ron Grande before starting Scott Construction in 1989. In 1992, his brother, Robert "Skinner" joined Scott Construction where the two worked side-by-side as skilled craftsmen until retiring in 2023. Together, with the help of his partner Cindy, they purchased Earl's Bar in 2006. For 17 years they welcomed people near and far to gather for laughs and good times. "That ain't bad!"
Always on the go, Danny enjoyed coaching hockey and playing in the "Old Timers Hockey Club." In his spare time, he continued to stay moving by playing pool league, poker, darts, foosball, and golf. He did all of these activities surrounded by his family and close friends.
Never losing his sense for adventure, Danny made it a priority to spend time with his children by traveling. Road trips with his partner Cindy, camping, and the near-annual getaway to a sandy beach, white-water raft, zip-line, or distant golf course were one of the many ways his family created lifelong memories together.
Danny was a builder in every sense of the word. From family homes, cabins in Canada, to whole communities at Earl's Bar, he laid the foundations of them all. He built many relationships along the way. Always quick with a joke, his wit brought a lot of laughs. Danny was incredibly giving of his time for the family and friends who were blessed to be a part of his life.
Never in doubt, Danny proved he was tough as nails. He fought for more time with his family and to create some of the earliest memories with his beloved granddaughter Grace. The laughter of his only grandchild always brought the warmest look in his eyes and biggest smile to "Papa's" face. Every minute was cherished by his family who remained by his side through it all.
Danny will be deeply missed by his partner, Cindy Gronos of Leeds, North Dakota; son Seth (Carrie) Scott of Leeds, North Dakota; daughters KayCee (Shane) Herrick of Leeds, North Dakota, Karlee (Tyler Axness) Gronos of Harwood, North Dakota; Grandchild Grace Herrick; Brothers, Robert (Dana Johnson) Scott, Roger (Jayne) Scott; Sisters, Christa Parker, Brenda (Kenny) Engelhardt, Michelle Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; George and Ramona Gronos; brother-in-law James Garcia; nephew Trevor Scott; and several close friends.
