Darrell Wayne Johnson was born on December 28 1943 in Maddock ND to Norris and Florence Johnson. He was raised on the family farm in rural Esmond and attended school in Baker and Esmond. Darrell married Lois Ann Aabrekke on November 21 1969 in Renton WA. Together Darrell and Lois raised their family on a farm south of Brinsmade, ND. They later moved to Leeds ND where they lived together until her passing in July of 2008.

He loved large family gatherings, fishing, playing cards and helping his son and his family on their farm at rural Leeds. Darrell was known by all for his quick wit and could bring a smile to anyone's face. In recent months he was most excited about and looking forward to seeing his new great granddaughter. These two angels passed each other as Lyndie Lou arrived on the same day Darrell spread his wings.

Darrel is survived by his children; Dion (Teri) Johnson of Leeds and Dena (Bob) Daws of Grand Forks; grandchildren Jaycee (Brock) Hoime of Leeds, Garrett Johnson of Leeds, Tanner (Jessica) Daws of Camp Pendleton CA and Tyler Daws of Minot and his great granddaughter Lyndie Lou Hoime of Leeds.
