Delores Mitzel, 93, of Esmond, ND passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at St. Aloisius Medical Center Nursing Home. A Private Family Service will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock, ND. Burial will take place at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Esmond, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: St. Aloisius Medical Center Nursing Home 325 Brewster Street East Harvey, ND 58341.

Delores Mitzel was born December 18, 1927 to Rochus and Elizabeth (Wolf) Streifel in rural Esmond. She was raised and educated in Esmond. Delores married Joe N. Mitzel on June 17, 1946 in Butte, ND. The couple moved to their farm in Esmond Township, Benson County (Northwest of Esmond) in 1951. Delores helped with the farming operation until she retired in 1998.

Delores enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and crocheting Afghan blankets. Her favorite times were spent with her family, where she enjoyed cooking and baking for each of them. Delores was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters in Esmond.

Delores is survived by her four sons, Joseph of Moorhead, MN, Roger (Lori) of Bismarck, ND, Glenn (Jan) of Bismarck, ND and Darrell of Esmond, ND; six grandchildren, Dustin (Wendy) Mitzel of Fargo, ND, Kimberly (Chad) Heidt of Dickinson, ND, Brock (Gina) Mitzel of Trophy Club, TX, Ryan Mitzel of Bismarck, Sheri (Randy) Wolfe of Prescott, AZ and Robert Joseph Mitzel Hesch of Dessert Hot Springs, CA; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Streifel of Athens, TX and Rueben Streifel of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law, Rose Faller of Harvey, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe N. Mitzel; parents, Rochus and Elizabeth Streifel; brohers, Ralph, Leonard, Henry and Elmer; sisters, Agnes and Barbara; daughters in-law, Nancy J. Lyon and Linda J. Varnum.
