Dennis Gene Goetz, 81, of Esmond, ND, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Trinity Health in Minot, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond, ND with Fr. Brian Bachmeier celebrating mass. Visitation will take place Monday, August 27, 2018 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Rosary and Vigil service beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Esmond, ND. Music will be provided by Corrine Mack and Kenny Streifel. Casket bearers will be Matt Knudson, Garrett Mongeon, Ryan Goetz, Spencer Muscha, Doug Goetz, Greg Goetz, Bill Mongeon and Chuck Muscha. Military Honors will be provided by Theodore A. Togstad American Legion Post #123 of Maddock, ND; Robert Tovsrud VFW Post #757 of Harlow, ND and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
Dennis gene Goetz was born January 21, 1937 at Rugby, ND, to John and Eva (Thomas) Goetz. He graduated from Knox High School and then served in the US Navy from September of 1954 until he was honorably discharged on December 1958. He returned to the Knox area and was united in marriage to Regina Heilman on June 15, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Knox, ND. The couple lived in Clarkston, WA for three years. They moved to Esmond in 1962 and operated Goetz's Fairway until it was destroyed by fire in 1982. From 1987 until their retirement in 1999, they owned and operated the Esmond Locker Plant. Following retirement, they painted a number of buildings in the area.
He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed horses & many horse shows, the outdoors, hunting, fishing & gardening with Regina. He also enjoyed visiting with family & friends & was a great storyteller.
Dennis is survived by his sons: Douglas (Lisa) Goetz of Champlin, MN and Gregory (Dianne) Goetz of Cherokee, OK; daughters: Dawn (Chuck) Muscha of Killdeer, ND and Gail (Bill) Mongeon of Rolette, ND; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters: Diane Cook and Delores Eisenzimmer.
