Dion D. Vondal, 38, of Tioga, ND, formerly of Grand Forks, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be Friday, January 17, 2014,  5:30 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks with Fr. Daniel Mrnarevic officiating.

Dion Daniel Vondal was born December 13, 1975 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Richard and Candace (Moore) Vondal.  He attended school in Grand Forks and his senior year at Rogers High School in Spokane, WA.  Following graduation, Dion returned to Grand Forks and worked at Simplot for several years and also lived in Johnstown, ND.  He returned to Spokane, WA and was employed by Super Value.  Dion moved back to Grand Forks and worked various jobs before going to Yellowstone, MT in 2001 to work in several resorts.  Here he met Jessica Meyer.  In 2002, they moved to Las Vegas, NV and were married May 6, 2005.  While there, Dion was employed by several casinos.  In 2011, Dion moved to Tioga, ND and was employed as a pipeline technician with EOG Resources until his death.

Surviving is his daughter:  Jocelyn and her mother, Jessica , of Las Vegas, NV;  mother:  Candace Vondal of Grand Forks;  a brother:  Richard (Christie) Vondal of Grand Forks;  nephews and niece:  Ricky, Damian & Courtney Vondal;  uncles:  William (Barbara) Moore of Otis Orchard, WA,  Albert "Bud" Moore of Challis, ID,  Keith (Tammy) Moore of Beulah, ND and Donald (Lisa) Moore of Northwood, ND;  aunts:  Barbara Dumas of Grafton, Wendy (Jeff) Osborn of Spokane, WA; special aunt, Rhonda Moore and numerous cousins.

Dion was preceded in death by his grandparents:  William & Donna Moore,  uncles:  Jack & Ted Moore and a cousin:  Laurie Aubol.

We spent our childhood together. Laughing, playing and loving each other. As we became adults our lives all went in different directions but we remain family...forever. Love you my dear cousin and hope you rest peacefully. My heart goes out to Aunt Candace, Richard, and Dion's beautiful daughter. May God give you strength and lead you through this difficult time. I am praying that God will give you the strength and courage you need at this most difficult time.  May it help to know that God loves you and Dion and gave his only-begotten Son to die for us all so that we could have the prospect of everlasting life.
