Donna Smith, 71, of Bismarck, ND and formerly of Maddock, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Esmond, ND with Pastor Harold Ovre officiating. Burial will take place at the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery in rural Esmond, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to donor's choice.

Donna M. Smith was born June 15, 1945, in Maddock, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Violet (Erickson) Smith. She grew up near Maddock and graduated from Benson County Agricultural Training School (BCATS) in Maddock in 1963. She went on to attend Bismarck Junior College where she graduated in 1964. Donna then began her career with the state, working for the Highway Department and the Information and Technology Department. She retired in February 2007.

Donna loved to make crafts, was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and Christian Women's Group. She loved when family would come to visit, especially her nieces and nephews.

Donna is survived by her brother, Ronnie (Donna Y.) Smith, Maddock, and Marvin Smith, West Fargo; her nieces and nephews, Todd Smith, Denise (Jeff) Howell, Susan (Jason) Graber, Mike "Jack Spade" Smith (Rachel), Eric (Nikkie) Smith; her great-nieces and nephews, Ashley (Ross), Cy, Hanna (Lucas), Austin, Caden, and Charlie; and her great-great nephews, Lincoln and Greyson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two great-great nephews, Braxton and Hayden Ladwig.
