Doreen J. Johnson, 49, of Minnewaukan, ND, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at her home.  Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan, with Pastor Luther Mathison officiating.  Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery at Minnewaukan.  Music will be from Claudette Carlson, soloist with Margaret Toso, organist. There will be no visitation. The Nelson Funeral Home of Minnewaukan is in charge of the arrangements.

Doreen Jane Laverdure was born September 3, 1960, at Harvey, ND, to Eugene and Shirley (Kesler) Laverdure.  She started school in Harvey and in 1967, moved with her family to Minnewaukan.  Doreen graduated from the Minnewaukan High School in 1979 and then attended Lake Region College in Devils Lake, graduating with an Associate in Arts Degree.  During her lifetime, she worked at the FHA offices in Minnewaukan and Devils Lake,  Dakota Tribal Industries in Fort Totten and as a homemaker for the Benson County Social Services.  Doreen was once married to Milt Schmid and later to Stuart Johnson.

Doreen enjoyed photography, music, walking, spending time with her family and her dog and cat:  Bear and Barney.

Surviving is her daughter:  Rhiannon Johnson of Bismarck;  her parents:  Eugene & Shirley Laverdure of Minnewaukan;  brothers:  Todd (Shelly) Laverdure of Minnewaukan and  Darin (Kelly) Laverdure of Kindred, ND;  sisters:  Jeanine (Joe) Martin of Fargo,  Annette Diehl of Devils Lake,  Margo Armentraut of Fargo and Madge (Ron) Selensky of Harvey;  nieces and nephews:  Jessie,  Dennis,  Dustin,  Justyn,  Robbie,  Zachery and Ashton and a great-niece:  Aria.  Doreen was preceded in death by her grandparents
