Dovie E. Follman, 82, of Leeds, ND,  died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Budd officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will  begin at 4pm Friday April 10, 2009 with a 7:00pm Prayer Service all at the Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds, ND.   Casket bearers will be her grandsons:  Beau, Cory & Josh Schmaltz,  Brandon & Dustin Smith,  Michael Follman, Kenny Remmen and special friend, Donnie Buchta.  Honorary bearers will be her granddaughters and great-grandchildren:  Susan Cookman,  Wendy Kraft,  Sophia,  Summer & Kylie Schmaltz,  Nathan & Jaydyn Cookman,  Jauna, Lexie & Michael Kraft,  Olivia, Andrew & Evan Follman, Mikela & Jonathan Jetty.  Music will be from Steve Mueller, soloist,  Judy Randle, Accordionist and Dan Nybo, organist.

Dovie Eileen (Stoll) Follman was delivered by a midwife on a farm northeast of Wolford, ND, on June 15, 1926, the daughter of William James Stoll and Rose (Graber) Stoll.  She attended school in the rural Wolford area. At the age of 16, Dovie began cooking in a cook car with her mother, where she learned to bake and cook.   Dovie  and Eugene (Ted) Follman were married in November 1943.  The couple lived and farmed near Leeds until his death on September 9, 1991.  She later moved into Leeds.

Dovie was active in the Leeds 55 club, and served as president.  She was a member of Leeds Lutheran Church and enjoyed serving in the Ladies Aid.  Dovie enjoyed entertaining and feeding friends and family her entire life.  Dovie valued the time with her children, nieces and nephews and their families and spending time during the winters with her brother in Florida.  Dovie also enjoyed spending time with special friend, Donnie Buchta of Leeds.

Dovie and Ted had four children:  William (Avis) Follman, Leeds,  Connie (George) Brown of Devils Lake,  Dixie (Jack) Smith of Fargo,  Debra (James) Schmaltz of Grand Forks;  9 grandchildren:  Michael (Kari) Follman, York, ND,  Susan (Terry) Cookman of Fargo,  Kenneth (Roberta) Remmen of Devils Lake;  Wendy (Mike) Kraft of Munich, ND,  Brandon and Dustin Smith both of Fargo;  J. Beau (Nikki) Schmaltz, Harrisburg, SD,  Cory (Gretchen) Schmaltz of Mekinock, ND,  Josh Schmaltz (Anne Spicer) of Grand Forks; 13 great-grandchildren;  a  brother Lester (Francis) Stoll in Florida; sisters-in-law:  Emily Stoll of Leeds and Betty Follman of Grand Forks, many nieces and nephews.

Dovie was preceded in death by her husband:  Eugene;  parents:  William and Rose Stoll; a  sister:  Delphia (Charlie) Ostenson and a brother,  Willis Stoll.
