Duane O. Olson, 71, of Maddock, ND, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his home under hospice care. A Memorial Service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock, ND with Pastor Luther "Lu" Mathison officiating, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. Burial will take place at the Minnewaukan City Cemetery in Minnewaukan, ND. Music will be provided by Arlyss Bergrud and Yoli Slater.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Altru's Hospice Program in Devils Lake, ND.

Duane Oscar Olson was born in Maddock, ND on June 18, 1943 to Oscar and Agnes Olson. He moved to Minot when he was 11 years old and graduated from Minot High School in 1962. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. In 1990, he married Janice Burgess Tandeski and they lived in Maddock, ND.  He worked for Cenex until ill health forced his retirement in 2000. He received a liver transplant in 2005 due to exposure to Agent Orange. Janice passed away August 2007.

Duane enjoyed horseback riding, snowmobiling, stock car and NASCAR racing, and restoring vintage and antique cars. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and a former member of the Dakota Cruisers and Street Rod Association.

He is survived by his children: Cher Olson, James Olson, Melissa McNamara; stepchildren: Brenda Sariñana, Jerry (Renee) Tandeski, Kimberly (Jamie) Worrall, Margaret (Brad) Chicos and Mark (Julieann) Tandeski; his mother by marriage, Jean Olson; sisters, Deb (Scott) Olson and Gail Blount; 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Olson; his father, Oscar Olson; biological mother Agnes Tandeski Fawcett; a brother, Ken Olson and great granddaughter, Liberty.
