Obituary

Duane E. Wright, 87, of Maddock, ND passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. Aloisius Medical Health in Harvey, ND.  Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock with Pastor Luther 'Lu' Mathison officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be held at Zion Lutheran Brethren Cemetery in Maddock.   In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Zion Lutheran Brethren Cemetery: 3556 52 nd Avenue NE Maddock, ND 58348.  Everyone is invited to stream service through Zion Lutheran Brethren Facebook Page.

Duane E. Wright was born on the Hellesvig farm near Maddock, ND on May 4th, 1934 to Hubert and Myrtle (Hellesvig) Wright.  He grew up on the farm until he was 8 when the family moved to Vancouver, Washington.  He graduated from Vancouver High School in Vancouver Washington and attended Clark College for a year before moving back to the Hellesvig farm.

He joined the Army in 1956 and volunteered with the 82nd Airborne division before meeting and marrying Elaine Axvig in October of 1959 and settling on the farm near Maddock.

He worked as a Finish Carpenter for Lund Construction in Bismarck, ND for many years.  Then he worked for Bremen Elevator until his retirement.

After his retirement, he kept busy doing carpentry projects and travelling to visit family.

He enjoyed woodworking, inventing, reading, and tinkering in his shop.  He also enjoyed spending time with his bird (Pickles) and sitting in the Gazebo admiring their yard.

He is survived by his sons Jeff (Val) Wright of Maddock, ND and Teddy Wright of Alexandria, MN; his daughters Jennifer (Rod) Neumiller of Hayden, CO, Natalie (Jesse) Volk of Harvey, ND, Terry (Doug) Beierle of Fargo, ND, and Tammi (Wade) Lentz of Fargo, ND; 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; and his sister Sandy Newberg of Portland, OR.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Elaine Wright, and his brother and sister.
