Obituary

E. Veloy Vallier, 83, of Rugby formerly of Oberon, ND,  died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care at Rugby, ND. Funeral Services will be Monday, April 22, 2013, 2:00 PM at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.  Burial will be later in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Oberon.  Visitation will be Monday at the church from noon until the time of service.

E. Veloy Smith was born January 27, 1930 rural Maddock, ND, to Victor and Esther (Toso) Smith.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Vasa Lutheran Church rural Esmond.  Veloy was raised on farms in Isabel and Albert Townships in Benson County and educated at the Isabel and Albert Township rural schools.  She graduated in 1948 from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock.  On February 24, 1949, she married Clifford Vallier at Maddock.  The couple lived and operated a dairy farm in West Antelope Township, rural Oberon. She also worked at a grocery store in Maddock, served as a teachers aid at the Oberon school and was a Homemaker for Benson County Social Services.    They retired in 1989 and moved into Oberon.  Clifford passed away December 27, 1995.  Veloy became a resident of the Maddock Memorial Home in April of 2005, later residing for a time at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake and then moving to the Heart of America Long Term Care in Rugby.

Veloy served on the Calvary Lutheran Church council at Oberon for several years and was a board member of the North Star Community Credit Union for nine years.

Surviving are her children:  Douglas (Carrie) Vallier of York, ND and a daughter:  KayDell Christensen of Alexandria, MN;  6 grandchildren:  Dusti Nystrom,  Erin Christensen,  Lindsey Christensen,  Kelsey Seigler,  Jason Vallier & Sadie Valier;  9 great-grandchildren;  a sister:  Beulah Broe of Rugby, ND;  four nephews, a niece; several cousins; sisters-in-law:  Joyce Vallier of New Rockford,  Anna Erickson of Grand Forks,  Georgine Isakson of Fargo and Lucille (Rick) of Enumclaw, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband and a  grandson:  Dustin Vallier.
