Eillen Lillian Simonson, 95, of Maddock, ND, passed away May 30, 2020 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.  Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock with Pastor Luther 'Lu' Mathison officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place at North Viking Lutheran Cemetery in Maddock.

Eillen Lillian was born May 15, 1925, on the farm in Esmond, ND. She was one of two children born to Oscar and Elisa (Johnson) Engkvist. Eillen attended Isabel School through grade twelve. After graduation, she taught for seven years as a teacher. Eillen was also a bookkeeper for five years at the Maddock elevator. She was united in marriage to Edwin Simonson on June 26, 1955.

Eillen enjoyed reading books of any kind, gardening, baking, making quilts, crocheting and needlepoint. She sewed clothes for her children and was a master at organizing her things. Later in life, Eillen worked as a janitor at Farmers State Bank, as well as the North Viking Lutheran Church for many years alongside her husband, Edwin.   Edwin passed away January 22, 2000.

Her life and memory will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Lannie Simonson of Maddock, Laurie Simonson of Maddock and Boni Simonson of Minot; her only grandchild, Devon of Fargo; also survived by nieces and nephews.

She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 44 years, Edwin; and daughter, Lori.
