Elaine Christine Wright, 77, of Maddock, ND passed away peacefully in her sleep after struggling with health issues at her home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock, ND with Pastor Luther "Lu" Mathison officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock, ND and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Zion Lutheran Brethren Cemetery in rural Maddock, ND.
Elaine Christine (Axvig) Wright was born in Grand Forks, ND on November 6, 1938 to Henry and Freda (Tresler) Axvig. She grew up on a farm near Adams, ND and at a young age attended the Oak Grove High School in Fargo, ND where she graduated. Elaine attended NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND where she graduated with an LPN Nursing Degree. She dedicated her life to helping others in the surrounding communities, including: the Maddock Hospital, Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, ND, the St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey, ND for 30 years and worked as a QSP in the Maddock area. Elaine married Duane Wright on October 10, 1959 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan, ND.
Elaine enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn, quilting, knitting, crocheting, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Brethren Church, the North Star Nursing Association, the Sons of Norway Chapter in Maddock and was Treasurer of the Woman Ministry Fellowship.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Duane; her sons, Jeff (Val) Wright of Maddock, ND and Teddy (Lisa) Wright of Phoenix, AZ; her daughters, Jennifer (Rod) Neumiller of Hayden, CO, Natalie (Jesse) Volk of Harvey, ND, Terry (Doug) Beierle of Fargo, ND and Tammi (Wade) Lentz of Fargo, ND; 15 grandchildren, Nikita and Natalia Wright, Megan Swedburg, Joshua and Zachary Volk, Amanda, Karissa, Emily, and Kathryn Beierle, Stephani Rosendahl, Andrew Rosendahl, Samantha Goldade, Adam Goldade, Lily and Maddy Wright; three great grandchildren, Jackson Bush, Abigail and Graci Brakke; her siblings, Allyn Axvig and Marge Smith of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Freda Axvig and a brother, Robert Axvig.
