Elmer R. Wolfe, 75 of Esmond, ND, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot  (10 days shy of his 76th birthday) after a courageous fight against cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 11, 2013,  11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond with Fr. Brian Bachmeier, celebrant.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as Lectors will be:  Mike Leintz and Kevin Kaeding.  Gift bearers will be his granddaughters:  Jennifer and Jerrica Reiger,  Kayla Heitmann,  Kelsey, Trina & Carlie Wolfe, Skylar Wolfe Epps. Jackie Wolfe will serve as Eucharistic Minister.  Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM followed by a Parish Vigil at 7:30pm all in the church.  Casket Bearers will be:  Kyle Wolfe,  Kordel Wolfe,  Troy Leintz,  Chris Leintz,  Nick Leintz,  Austin Anhorn,  Dalton Wolfe Epps and Luke Heitmann.  Music will be from Janice Toso and Ronny Bromley, vocalists with Helen Arnold, organist and Jennifer Hagen, pianist. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock is in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer was born on June 17, 1937 in Esmond, ND to John Jr. & Katie (Vetter) Wolfe.  Elmer resided in rural Esmond all his life. He attended and graduated from the Esmond Public School. While in school he participated in sports and the basketball team went to state in 1953-54. He took two winter quarters (1955-56 and 1956-57) of mechanics at the State School of Science in Wahpeton.  In 1958, he married his high-school sweetheart Beatrice (Krim) daughter of Anton and Lena (Duchscher) Krim. In their first year of marriage, they spent the winter (1958-59) in California where Elmer was employed by General Motors.  In the spring of 1959 they returned to rural Esmond, ND and began farming and ranching on the Wolfe family homestead in Pierce County where he and his sons continue to farm and ranch until his death.

Family gatherings at the Wolfe Ranch meant the world to Elmer as he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He valued the meaning of life and he loved ranching and taking care of his cattle.  His enjoyment was to mentor and work side by side with his sons in his farming operation.

He survived by his wife Beatrice (Krim) and 6 children: Doug (Jackie) Wolfe, Harvey, ND, Gigi (Mike) Leintz, Bismarck, ND, Todd Wolfe (friend Kandis), Esmond, ND, Glenn Wolfe, Esmond, ND, Tammy Wolfe, Myrtle Beach, SC and Leigh (Kevin) Kaeding, Bismarck, ND; 15 grandchildren: Kyle Wolfe, Kayla (Luke) Heitmann, Kordel Wolfe, Kari Wolfe, Jennifer Rieger, Jerrica Rieger, Troy Leintz, Chris (Jessica) Leintz, Nick (Ashley) Leintz, Kelsey Wolfe, Trina Wolfe, Carlie Wolfe, Sklyar Wolfe Epps, Dalton Wolfe Epps and Austin Anhorn; 5 great-grandchildren: Tyler Ann Leintz, Dylan Leintz, Hailey Leintz, Dylan Heitmann and Kylee Heitmann; his mother Katie Wolfe of Rugby; siblings: Pat (Janie) Wolfe, Tim (Sandy) Wolfe all of Esmond, Rosella (Mel) Fredenburg of Fargo, Bernice (Dan) Reierson and Shirley (Rick) Brown, all of Minot.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Wolfe Jr., sister Harriet Wolfe and brother Victor Wolf.
