Elvin Randle, 90, of Rugby, ND, formerly of Baker, ND, passed away December 3, 2014 at Heart of America Care Center in Rugby. Services will be held, Tuesday, December 9, 11 AM at Leeds Lutheran Church, Leeds, ND, with visitation beginning at 10 AM with Pastor Michael Pretzer officiating. Visitation is planned for Monday, December 8, beginning at 5 with a family service at 7:30 P.M. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds. Music will be provided by Rachel Markestad and Lucia Jacobson. Casket bearers include Kevin Randle, Kirk Randle, Gary Randle, Dennis Randle, Wesley Broe, Dale Broe, Chris Gruhl, and James Fragodt. Honorary bearers are friends of Elvin. Interment will be at the St Petri Lutheran Cemetery, rural York, ND.
Elvin Allan Randle was born on a farm north of Baker, ND to Walter and Hazel (Allan) Randle on December 1, 1924. He attended grade school in the country school in Twin Lake Township, Baker and high school at BCATS in Maddock, ND. He worked building electrical lines in many rural areas as the REA was developed in the area. He married Ardis Broe on June 3, 1951, at the St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural York, ND. After their marriage they traveled for construction work in western North Dakota and Montana. They purchased the Baker Trading Post in 1955. Elvin worked as a carpenter for 50 years. He was a member of the St. Petri Lutheran Church until it closed and then belonged to Leeds Lutheran Church. On February 27, 2013 he moved to the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby.
Elvin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ardis. Four children, Peggy (Fred) Brager of West Fargo, Wayne (Diane) Randle of Maddock, Marc Randle of Maddock, and Sharlene Kjosa of West Fargo. Seven grandchildren including Kristine (Jesse)Lunde of Thompson, Kathy (Jeremy) Nelson of Fargo, Kevin Brager of Fargo, Bryan Randle of Devils Lake, Kimberly (Nick) Whitehead of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Kenzie Randle of Maddock, and Dustin Kjosa of Fargo; great-grandchildren; Addyson Lunde of Thompson and Wyatt Nelson of Fargo. Siblings include Lois Dumdai of Harvey, Earl (Betty) Randle of Eden Prairie, MN and Owen (Judy) Randle of Minot, sister in laws Lucille Randle of Minot and Doris Randle of West Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter (1990) and Hazel (1992), and infant son, Dale (1956), son-in-law, Robert Kjosa (2004), brothers; Arlin (1989), Lyle (1995), Duane (2010); brother-in-law Elburn Dumdai (1989), sister-in-law Louise Randle (2001).
