Esther L. Sabbe, 93, of Maddock, ND, died Saturday, June 4th, 2011, at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake under the care of Mercy Hospice.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011, 10:30 AM  at the  Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in the North Viking Cemetery at Maddock.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.  Casket bearers will be:  Leroy  Sabbe,  Roger Sabbe,  Jerry Sabbe,  Kirby Kallenbach,  Kara Kallenbach and Matthew Knudson.  Music will be from Arlyss Bergrud, soloist with Paula Duren, organist.

Esther Lillian Sabbe was born January 21, 1918 to Andrew and Oline (Swenson) Sabbe at Maddock.  The family lived at Hesper, ND and later moved to Flora, ND where she attended school.  Esther cared for her mother and brother, Orval until their deaths and also worked for a time at a restaurant in Maddock.   On October 16, 1979,  Esther was one of the first to move into the Parkview Apartments in Maddock, remaining there until just several days before her death.

Surviving is a sister-in-law:  Lorraine Voeller of Surrey, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  brothers:  Palmer,  Orval,  Spencer,  Clifford and Phillip Sabbe and sisters:  Aradella Sabbe,  Sophie Sabbe and Jeanette Lamen.
