Florence E. Wold, 99, of Maddock, ND passed away Friday December 3, 2021 at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, ND. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 10, 2021 at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Cassie Borges officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock. Burial will take place at North Viking Lutheran Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to stream the service online through Nelson Funeral Home Facebook Page. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the North Viking Lutheran Church: 308 Central Avenue, North Viking Lutheran Cemetery: 4645 38 th Street NE or Maddock Memorial Home: 301 Roosevelt Avenue, Maddock, ND 58348.
Florence Haugen was born at Maddock to Peter and Thea (Bratlien) Haugen on February 21, 1922. Florence married William Hoberg on January 14, 1941 at Maddock, where they farmed and had a dance band. Bill died of a massive heart attack on June 24, 1976. Florence and Bill had three children: Sandra, Sharon and David.
After Bills death, Florence enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician Training Program to obtain her certification. She served with the Maddock Ambulance Service and also as a nurse's aide at the Maddock Hospital. Florence married Claudius Wold on October 1, 1977 and the couple moved to Bismarck, ND. The couple was active in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. They had a Senior Swing Band; Claude was the emcee, plays and sing and Florence played the piano and directed the group. They entertained at nursing homes, retirement home, hospitals and an occasional out-of-town gig. She enjoyed golf and bowling. Florence moved back to Maddock in 2014 to the Maddock Manor until moving to Harvey, ND in December 2018.
Her greatest accomplishment was helping raise multiple generations. One of her favorite sayings: "There is a destiny that makes us brothers. None goes his way alone. What you put into the lives of others comes back into your own".
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra (Erling) Karlsbraaten; 9 grandchildren, Paula, Doreen, Eric, Kris, Angela, Deann, John, Paul and Julie; 18 great grandchildren, Ashley, Danielle, Gabrielle, Heather, Paige, Errion, Garrith, Tyler, Kayla, Ethan, Drew, Dani, Dylan, Megan, Nicholas, Hannah, Jaxon and Lexi; 8 great great grandchildren, Elida, Lilly, Maddox, Jaydee, Alayna, Zander, Mack, Nova; 2.5 great great great grandchildren, Laeo, Essie and coming soon another girl; along with many other nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her two wonderful husbands, William Hoberg and Claudius Wold; son, David Hoberg; daughter, Sharon Krueger; daughter-in-law, Norma Hoberg; sisters, Selma Bender Black, Eunice Olson, Anna, Tilda, and Magnild Haugen; brothers, Aril Haugen and Bjarne Haugen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella & Art Martinson, Pearl and Frank Teclaw; brothers and sisters-in-law; Ingman & Myrtle Haugen, Palmer & Helen Haugen, and Eva Schwartz Haugen Neikerk; granddaughter, Faith Rehling; great grandson, Ryan Bartsch.
