Frances Halvorson, 71, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Esmond, ND passed away Saturday, Deceber 13, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Anne's Guest Home, Grand Forks, ND, with visitation one hour prior to service. George Wirsing will be officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Esmond, ND with Pastor Luther Mathison officiating. Casket bearers are Nathan Marshall, Ryan Marshall, Stephen Marshall, Margie Volk, Brian McMahon, Jack Bachmeier and Don Hozenski.
Frances Shirley Halvorson was born April 16, 1943 in Montrose, SD to Frank and Shirley (Dickenson) Bies. She was reared in Montrose, Salem, SD and settled in Rapid City SD as a teenager, where she met and married, Larry D. Halvorson on June 16, 1961. They lived in Rapid City, SD, Grand Forks,ND, Devils Lake, ND, Babbit, MN, and Ely, MN before settling into Esmond, ND. Frances moved to Grand Forks after the passing of her husband and has resided there until her death.
Frances was a homemaker most of her life. She lived at the St Anne's Guest Home where she met many friends. She enjoyed crafts, baking, and socialization with friends and family. She enjoyed participating in the many activities and the dances at St. Anne's Guest Home.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Stephen Marshall of Grand Forks, a son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Valerie Halvorson of Pampa, TX, Frances was blessed to have 10 grandchildren Laura, Jeffrey II, Jacqueline, Roselyn, Tracie, Terra, Thomas, Nathan, Ryan and Samantha and 5 great-grandchildren, including a number of nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, two sisters, husband and a son Jerry Lee Halvorson.
