Gary Joel Ritterman, 82, of Leeds, ND and passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at his home in Leeds.  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds with Pastor Sharon Baker officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at the Hurricane Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural York, ND.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Leeds Ambulance Service P.O. Box 361 Leeds, ND 58346.  Military Honors will be provided by the Sidney Britsch American Legion Post #268 of York, the Leeds American Legion Post #101 and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.

Gary Joel Ritterman was born January 2, 1942 to Herman and Margie (Myhre) Ritterman in Rugby, ND.  He attended elementary school in York, ND and high school in Rugby.  Gary enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1961-1965 as a Supply Sergeant.  Upon his honorable discharge, Gary moved back to North Dakota and began working.

Gary was united in marriage to Janette Loraine Hove on August 9, 1970 near Tioga, ND.  The couple lived in Rugby and in 1971 moved to Leeds, where they made their home.  Gary worked for farmers, for Tester Molding, Leeds Public School and various other jobs in the Leeds area.  He was a member of the Leeds Fire Department and the Sidney Britsch American Legion Post #268 and Leeds American Legion Post #101.  Gary was very social and could make friends anywhere.  He enjoyed camping and visiting his family and friends.

Gary is survived by his son, Shane Ritterman of Leeds; daughter, Robyn Dunn of Milaca, MN; four grandchildren, Joshua and Kimberly Ritterman, Ana and Elle Dunn; sister-in-law, Bette Ritterman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janette; son, Ricky; parents, Herman and Margie Ritterman; brother, Harlan 'Tex' Ritterman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Haakon and Evelyn (Smith) Hove.
