Gordon Torgerson, 97, Maddock, ND, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. Services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2: 00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock, ND with Pastor Allen Campbell Officiating. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, rural Minnewaukan. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pall Bearers will be Mike Lysne, Brian Lysne, Todd Sears, Kevin Moltzen and William Bosley Jr. Music will be provided by Rachel Markestad. Military Honors will be provided by the Theodore A. Togstad Post # 123 Maddock American Legion and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.

Gordon Thorvald Torgerson was born July 21, 1917 on the family farm at rural Maddock, ND to Thorvald and Gunhild (Thompson) Torgerson.

Gordon attended school in Eldon Township. He joined the Army and served in World War II. He served as a military policeman, a medic, and was chosen to be part of an honor guard for President Roosevelt.

After returning from the Army in 1945 Gordon spent his entire life on thefamily farm where he was born.

Gordon enjoyed working with his brother Chester on many wood related
projects. They undertook building cabinets in St. Olaf Lutheran Church near Minnewaukan where they were members. They enjoyed training and driving teams of draft horses and built and refurbished many horse drawn pieces of machinery for others to enjoy.

Gordon is survived by his niece, Fairy Bosley of Rugby, grand nephews,
William Bosley of Williston, ND, Neil Bosley, of Casper, Wy, Jon Bosley, of Beaverton, OR, Todd Sears of Wheatland, ND, and grandniece, Shelly Moltzen,of Jamestown, ND and several great grand nephews and great grandnieces.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Thorvald and Gunhild Torgerson,
brother, Chester Torgerson, sisters, Beatrice Torgerson, Hazell Torgerson Sears and nephew Ivan Sears, Jr.
