Grant Michael Davidson "Nagiskata" (Spirit Play), 19, of St Michael, ND our loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, left us on Thursday, August 11, 2011 in a tragic vehicle accident near Ft. Totten, ND.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 19, 2011,  10:00 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michael with Fr. Brian Moen celebrating the mass.  Grant will be laid to rest at the Double "M" Ranch near St. Michael.  A wake will be held at the Four Winds High School Gymnasium at Ft. Totten on Thursday beginning at 5:00 PM with a Rosary and Prayer Service.  The procession to the Four Winds High School will leave at 4:00 pm on Thursday from the Walmart parking lot in Devils Lake.

Pallbearers that will be carrying Grant:  Jarret Cook, Braxton Luger, Lawrence Lightning, John Lightning, Lydell Merrick, Val Merrick, Ethan Longie, and Devin Lightning.  Another distinguished group:  Derrick Ami, Samuel Merrick, Jr., Brent DeMarrias, Avery Thompson, Travis LaRock, Nick Yankton, RJ Cavanaugh, Chris Cook, Ryan Jetty, Dion Peterson, and Josh Jensen.  Honorary pallbearers: Four Winds classmates, Devils Lake classmates, hockey and football teammates, the ND Predator Teammates, friends and family.   Music will be provided by Tony & Vina McDonald, Doris Anderson, Vern Jetty, Carol Greywater, Melissa Merrick, Janessa Green, and all drums are invited to come share their music.

Grant Michael Davidson was born on May 25, 1992 in Devils Lake, ND to David and Joy (Anderson) Davidson. Grant's Indian name "NAGISKATA" (Spirit Play) was given to him by his grandfather, Buddy Alberts. This name belonged to Grant's G,G,G,G, Grandfather Nagiskata on his maternal mother's side. He was a member of the Dakota tribes, (Mdewakantons and Wahpekutes band) of Minnesota back in 1862.

Grant attended Prairie View Elementary and Devils Lake Central Middle School graduating from the Four Winds High School in 2010.  Grant planned on attending Cankdeska Cikana Community College this fall. Grant enjoyed playing poker and PS3 with his friends and cousins. His hobbies include hockey, skiing, water skiing, football, basketball, golf, fishing, hunting, and pow-wow dancing. His favorite drum group was the Perfect Storm Singers, and his favorite song was "Better on the Other Side" by The Game.

He especially loved playing hockey and was on the 1992 Dakota Predators hockey team. His dream was to play for the "Fighting Sioux" hockey team at the University of North Dakota.  He was a big time UND Fighting Sioux hockey fan and Baltimore Ravens football fan.

All will surely miss Grant.  He was full of life and  touched many people's lives leaving a lasting impression with his charisma, fearless, fun-loving, adventurous, daring, athletic, and comical personality.  He experienced a lot within his 19 years with us. Grant was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

Grant Michael is survived by his loving parents:  David and Joy (Anderson) Davidson of St. Michael and Hunkake parents:  Lance and Lisa Kimmerly of St. Michael,  a sister: Destiny Davidson of St. Michael;  paternal grandparents: David and Eunice Davidson of Devils Lake, ND, great-grandmother: Marie (Bill) Martin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. grandmother: Judi (Justin) Ami of St. Michael;  aunts: Tammy (Elston) Lightning of Hobemma, Alberta, Canada and Candice Anderson of St. Michael. His favorite uncles: Gregory (Kelly) DeMarrias, Norman (Jan) DeMarrias, Garry DeMarrias, and Matthew DeMarrias all of St. Michael, ND.  Special sister/cousins: Melissa Kimmerly, Chastity Lightning and many cousins, extended family, friends and special friend: Treasa Santos.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather: Joseph Abraham; paternal great-great grandparents: Jerome and Jenny (Mazakahomoni) Abraham and George and Alvina Alberts;  maternal grandparents: Marvin and Marlene (Gourd) Anderson; maternal great-grandparents: Jake and Melvina (Littlewind) Gourd;  aunt: Valerie Merrick; uncles:  Marvin Anderson Jr, and Mark DeMarrias;  cousins:  Michael and Joe Peterson, Kerry Leon Gourd, Kimberly French, Klo Redfox and grandfathers Kenneth "Butch" Gourd and Garry Gourd.  Grant Michael's "Tiospa":  (Mazakahomoni, Abraham, Alberts, Feather, Otakoyake, Cavanaugh, Anderson, Gourd, Blueshield, Littlewind, Woods, Thomas, Brown, Chaske, WalkingEagle, Sihahanska, Inkpaduta, Nagiskata, Hehakanajin, and other extended families.)
