Harriet A. College, 91, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Esmond, ND,  died Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. Memorial Services will be Friday, February 18th, 2011,  2:00 PM at the Eventide Lutheran Home Chapel in Moorhead with Pastor Steve Streed officiating. Funeral services will be Monday, February 21, 2011,  11:00 AM  at Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond with Pastor Harold Ovre and Pastor Doug Klungtvedt officiating.  Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Esmond.  Casket bearers will be her sons:  Gary, Gail, Bruce and Scott College.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the church with a  7:00 PM  Prayer Service.  Music will be from Pastor Doug Klungtvedt, soloist with Margaret Toso, organist.

Harriet Alta Bellerud was born August 22, 1919 on the Bellerud farm south of Esmond, ND, to Christian and Marie (Veum) Bellerud.  She was raised on the farm and graduated valedictorian in the Esmond class of 1936.  Harriet then attended the Union Commercial College at Grand Forks and was employed at the Nash Grain and Trading Company in Grafton, ND.  Here she met Edward (Curley) W. College.  They were married on October 24th, 1939 in Glendive, MT.  The couple farmed near Esmond and also near the communities of Carrington, Sheyenne and Minnewaukan.  Harriet and Edward settled in Esmond where she was employed many years at the Esmond School as a cook, dishwasher and janitor.  They moved to Fargo in 1995.  Following Edward's death on June 29th, 1998,  Harriet moved to Trollwood Apartments in Fargo and in 2007 to the Fairmont in Moorhead, MN.  She lived there until entering Eventide Lutheran Home in November of 2010.

Harriet was baptized, confirmed and remained a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond.  She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran WELCA and the Esmond VFW Post #4251 Auxiliary.  Harriet enjoyed playing cards and loved to read her Bible.  Above all, her family was the love of her life.

Surviving are 9 daughters:  Marlene (Mrs. Ray) Koble of Fargo,  Sharon (Mrs. Dorence) Cote of Manzanita, OR,  Donna (Mrs. Harlow) Hageness and  Dessie (Mrs. Pat) Scott both of Rolette, ND,  JoAnn (Mrs. Bruce) Bergson of Fargo,  Judy (Mrs. Larry) Jenssen of Goodyear, AZ,  Sandi Lettenmaier of West Fargo,  Candy (Mrs. Wayne) Scherr of Wagner, SD,  and  Diane (Mrs. Jim) Sisson of Guernsey, WY;  4 sons:  Gary (Paula) College of Apple Valley, MN,  Gail (Laurie) College of Bottineau, ND,  Bruce (Diana) College of Norman, OK and Scott (Jennifer) College of West Fargo;  a son-in-law:  Tim Danielson of Rolette, ND;  37 grandchildren;  36 great-grandchildren;  one great-great-grandchild;  3 sisters-in-law:  Argie Bellerud of Esmond, ND,  Amelia College of Jamestown,  and Alice Prossen of Carrington, ND; and a brother-in-law:  Joe College of Clairmont, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband;  4 children:  Byron,  Dale & Cynthia College and Patsy Danielson;  a son-in-law:  Ted Lettenmaier;  2 sisters:  Pearl Bellerud and Clara Larson; and 3 brothers:  Leo, Clifford and Harold Bellerud.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mom.  I have such good memories of her and being at your house, even though I always had to help with the dishes!!  It was just like being at home. Such good memories we all have of growing up together in Esmond.
