Hazel M. Dooley, 95, of Leeds, ND,  died Monday, March 14th, 2011, at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care in Rugby, ND.  Funeral services will be Saturday, March 19, 2011,  2:00 PM at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Budd officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery later in the spring.   Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds.  Casket bearers will be:  Robert Kjosa,  Paul Kjosa,  Gary Larson,  Rick Larson,  Robert Selland and Arden Warner.  Music will be from Nancy Silliman, vocalist with Dan Nybo, organist.

Hazel Margaret Nelson was born October 24, 1915, to John and Olivia (Dahl) Nelson north of Leeds, ND on the Herman and Martha Anderson farm.  She was delivered by Dr. A.B. Lund and was a blue baby.  Hazel was baptized on November 13, 1915 by Pastor Alfred Bredesen.   The family moved to their father's homestead north of Oberon where  Hazel was raised.  She graduated from the Oberon High School in 1934.  On October 4, 1937, Hazel and Maurice Dooley were married in Devils Lake.  They lived in Leeds for several years then moved and farmed southeast of Leeds for ten years.  The couple moved back to Leeds where Maurice worked at Larson Implement and also farmed.  Hazel worked as a clerk at Folgeson's Grocery for twenty-five years, retiring in 1979.  She then stayed at home to help Maurice with the chores. Hazel and Maurice celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1994.  Following Maurice's death on February 22, 1994, she remained in Leeds until moving several years ago to the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Hazel was confirmed at Leeds Lutheran Church by Pastor Nilson.  She was a life member of the Leeds Lutheran WELCA and helped with many church activities until her eyesight failed.  She loved her plants and flowers, always wondering how God could make something so pretty.

Hazel is survived by a sister:  Ardelle Soggie of Devils Lake; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband;  a brother:  Johnnie Nelson and sisters:  Doris Weber and Eva Mosser.
