Helen Josephine Hoffert, 87, of Rugby, ND and formerly of Esmond, ND, passed away Sunday, February 04, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Bottineau, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, ND with Fr. Thomas Graner celebrating the mass. Visitation will held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary and Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Serving as Readers will be Valerie Bachmeier and Twyla Bohl. Gift Bearers will be grand-daughters: Mary Jo, Nicole, Kristin, Jessica, Deanna and Tiffany. Casket Bearers will be Jesse Bohl, Jerald Bohl, Adam Lynn Bohl, Kenneth Bohl, Nathanial Bohl, Matthew Bohl, Kevin Bachmeier and Luke Faleide. Honorary Bearers will be all of her great-grandchildren and the Christian Mothers Confraternity. Music will be provided by Glenda Mack and Sara Selenski. Helen Josephine Selensky was born August 13, 1930 in the farm home of her parents, John and Mary Eva (Keller) Selensky. She was educated at a Selz, ND country school until the eighth grade. Helen helped her parents on the family farm. She later went to work at Rosie's Café in Rugby, ND as a short order cook and waitress. Helen was united in marriage to Casimer Hoffert on September 24, 1951 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz. They were married 63 years and made their home on the farm near Esmond, ND and raised seven children. Helen helped on the family farm with field work, ranching and milking.

Helen enjoyed helping in the community. She was a 4-H leader for 15 years and was very active in her children's school activities. Helen was a member at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond for many years. She taught CCD classes for 30 years and was very active with the Ladies Aid and Christian Mothers all her life. Helen enjoyed traveling and visiting with her family. A few special traveling trips were to Europe, Rome, Arizona, "Mother Cabrini Shrine" in Denver, "Immaculate Mary Shrine" in Manitoba, Canada and a cruise to Hawaii. After retiring from farming, the couple moved to Rugby in 2009 and later to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Bottineau, ND. Casimer passed away November 13, 2014.

Helen is survived by her seven children: Janelle (Anton) Lemer, Twyla (Adam) Bohl, Charlet (Joseph) Bohl, Kelvin Hoffert, Lynn Hoffert, Roxanne Schneider and Valerie (Kevin) Bachmeier; 21 grandchildren, Toni Marie (Jeff) Jacobson, Shane (Mandy) Lemer, Jesse Bohl, Adam Lynn (Sadina) Bohl, Nicole (Jamey) Grossman, Kenneth (Chelbie) Bohl, Matthew Bohl, Nathaniel Bohl, Jerald (Kristen) Bohl, Mary Jo Bohl, Kristin (Luke) Faleide, Lynze (Kevin) Hagan, Leland Schneider, Priscilla (Chase) Kramer, Joshua Schneider, Stuart Schneider, Jerome Schneider, Deanna Schneider, Tiffany Schneider, Melissa (Arne) Hedlin and Jessica Nordlie; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Vetter, Barbara Kline and Angie Golembeck.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Casimer Hoffert; parents, John and Mary Eva; siblings, Rochus Selensky, Kate Selensky, Rose Hoffert, Marie Laturnus, Tony Selensky, Ray Selensky and Frank Selensky; son-in-law, Jay Nordlie.
