James "Bud" B. Duffey, 66, of Quincy, WA formerly of rural Esmond, ND, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, March 1, 2012 . Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 10th, 2012, 1:00 PM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond with Fr. Brian Bachmeier, celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Friday at the church followed by a 7:00 PM Rosary and a 7:30pm Vigil Service all in the church. A Celebration of Life Service was held Monday at Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock is in charge of the local arrangements.
James "Bud" Byron Duffey was born March 22, 1945 in Maddock, ND to James and Agnes (Voeller) Duffey. He attended the Isabel Country School rural Esmond and graduated in 1963 from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock. Bud and his wife, Jenny (Keller), lived and farmed in the Esmond/Maddock area until 1991, then relocated to Quincy, WA. In Quincy he, continued his love of farming working for Webber Farms for the last 20 years.
Bud was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be greatly missed.
James is survived by his wife: Jenny Duffey of Quincy; mother and step father: Agnes & Virgil Ellingson of Heimdal, ND; 5 children: Saniel (Della, Tia) Hoffert, Rhonda (Lou, Elesia, Ethan) Burnett, Danielle (Tony, Seth, Cody, Jayme) Whipple, Coreen (Jason, Brittney, Kayden) McNulty, and Doreen (Wayne, Justin) Dick.
Bud was preceded in death by his father: James D. Duffey on November 20, 1965; aunts, uncles and numerous relatives, who will welcome him home.
