Janet Alyce Nybo, 83, of York, ND passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Devils Lake, ND. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2024 at Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds, ND with Pastor Sharon Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by 7:00 PM Prayer Service Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Leeds Lutheran Church. Everyone is welcome to stream the service on the Leeds Lutheran Facebook Page on Saturday.
Janet Alyce (Ritterman) Nybo was born in Pierce County, ND to Rudolph (Rudy) and Iona (Rude) Ritterman on June 13, 1940.
Janet attended Leeds Public School and graduated in 1958. Janet met Donald Nybo through Janet's brother, Chuck. They dated for a couple of years and were married October 11, 1963 at Leeds Lutheran Church.
The couple resided in York, ND and raised three children, Daniel, David, and Nancy.
Janet was baptized and confirmed in York and was active in the York and Leeds Lutheran Church and their ELCW groups. Janet was also involved in the York Auxiliary American Legion. Janet worked various jobs throughout her life. Before marriage, Janet worked at Merchants Bank in Rugby and the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office. After her marriage to Donny, she worked at Rude's Cash Store in York, ran Jan's Cafe in York for several years, and most recently at Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby where she retired in 2010.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various activities and celebrating their accomplishments. She also enjoyed playing cards, keeping up with and spending time with family and friends. Janet was a very hard worker and an excellent cook.
Janet passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at CHI St. Alexis Medical Center in Devils Lake, ND. She is survived by three children, Daniel (MiChelle) Nybo, David (Debbie) Nybo, Nancy (Kelly) Follman; 6 grandchildren, Grace and her husband Tyler Iwen, Leif Nybo, Mattea Nybo and her fiancé Dan Hullander, Mathias Follman and his fiancé Megan Olson, Braydon Follman, and Rakel Follman; 1 great-grandchild, Ryder Iwen; a brother, Leland Ritterman; sisters-in-law Judi Ritterman and Pat Nybo; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Nybo; her parents, Rudy and Iona; her mother and father-in-law, Roald and Caroline (Blegen) Nybo; brothers, James, Phillip (Buddy), Frank, Charles (Chuck), Ronald; a sister, Anne (Susie) Britsch; sisters-in-law, Judy Ritterman, Carol Ritterman, and Phyllis Nybo; and brothers-in-law, Derrel Britsch, Meryl Nybo, and Lee Nybo.
