Janice E. Reierson, 86, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Esmond, ND passed away peacefully Monday, November 6, 2023 at Touchmark at Harwood Groves in Fargo, ND.  Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements held with the Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock, ND.

Janice was born on a farm in rural Esmond, North Dakota on June 14, 1937 to parents Ernest and Addoris Toso. She attended Isabel and Baker schools and graduated from Esmond High School with honors in 1955.  She fell in love with Gene Reierson and they married on November 20, 1955. They made their home in Devils Lake where she worked for Bell Telephone Company, eventually relocating to Esmond in 1959, when Gene began working for Standard Oil. They had three children, Karen, Kim, and David. In 1976, they started Gene's Bulk Service, where Janice served as bookkeeper in addition to being a homemaker. Keeping a clean house was important to her, and she made sure it was kept that way. In 1998, they retired and sold their business and lived in Esmond until August of 2021 when they moved to Touchmark in Fargo.

In her free time, Janice was an avid seamstress, quilter, and reader passing this love down to her children and grandchildren. She made clothes for her children growing up and quilted blankets for all seven of her grandchildren. When she finished a book, she often left a one or two-word review on one of the front pages. Her most commonly used phrases were "I love you" and "God bless you." Faith was important to Janice throughout her life and she was often described as someone who "walked her faith" as a gentle and humble person. Gene read to her from the Bible every single night. They attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond where she took sermon notes for Gene when he began having trouble hearing. She loved deeply, especially her husband Gene, to whom she was married for over 67 years.  Her family described her as strong, positive, loving, and giving. She was a selfless and nurturing mother, grandmother, and wife.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Elaine Sundby and Laverne Leier, and two brothers; Richard and Gary Toso. She is survived by her husband, Gene; daughters, Karen (Joe) Griffith in Papillion, Nebraska and Kim Kelsh in Fargo; son, David (Karen) Reierson in Moorhead, Minnesota; grandchildren, Dan Griffith, Hannah Evans, Sarah Griffith, Andrew Kelsh, Jacqueline Kelsh, Sydney Reierson and Taylor Reierson; and six great-grandchildren.
