Jeffrey Ellingson, 72, of Maddock, ND passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home in Viking with family at his side.  Jeff was born September 7, 1952 to Chester and Bernice (Rosendahl) Ellingson.  He attended the Norway Lake #1 (Faleide) School for seven years, and the Maddock Public School, where he graduated in 1970.  He furthered his education at Lake Region State College and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

In 1975 he began his farming career, taking over his grandfather's homestead.  He was fortunate to see his work take fruit and his land mature and flourish through the years.  He had the rare and unequaled peace of being one with the land he walked upon, knowing that a part of him grows free and lives forever.

Golfing was a passion of Jeff's.  He was most proud of his two hole-in-ones and passing his love of the game to his son.  He enjoyed watching Viking Football, Twins Baseball and was an avid Fighting Sioux Hockey fan.  He was ready to pet any dog he ever met, especially chocolate labs.

On December 30th, 1977 he married Linda Hunter at the Trinity Medical Center Chapel in Minot, ND.  They lived on the family farm and raised one son.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Linda of Maddock, son Noah (Amy) Ellingson of New Rockford and grandsons, Soren and Oskar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Bernice Ellingson, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of services, the family is respecting Jeff's wishes to be cremated and given back to the earth, across the land that he cared for and nurtured his entire life.
