Joyce A. Rognlie, 76, of Devils Lake, formerly of Minnewaukan, ND,  died Saturday, October 15th, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 18, 2011,  2:00 PM  at Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan with Pastor Lu Mathison officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from noon until the time of service. Casket bearers will be:  Sherman Cline,  Gary King,  Mitch King,  James Ripplinger,  Curtis Yri and Dale Yri.  Music will be from Claudette Carlson, soloist with Fay Huffman, organist.

Joyce Arlene Rognlie was born November 8, 1934 at Harlow, ND, to Elmer and Pearl (Romig) Nottestad.  She was raised in Minnewaukan and graduated from the Minnewaukan High School in 1952.  Joyce then graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo and was employed at St. Luke's Hospital prior to her marriage to Carrol Rognlie on June 6, 1956 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan. During her husband's years at college, they resided first in Grand Forks where Joyce worked at St. Michael's Hospital.  It was during this time a son, Jon, was born.  The family returned to Minnewaukan in 1958.  Joyce was then employed at Memorial Hospital in Maddock and later at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.  They moved to St. Louis, MO in the fall of 1961.  While living there Joyce was employed at St. Luke's Hospital.  They returned to Minnewaukan in 1963.  Joyce then began working for Lake Region Clinic in Devils Lake, retiring in 2000.  In 2004, they moved to Devils Lake.

Surviving are her husband:  Carrol of Devils Lake;  a son & daughter-in-law:  Jon and Annie Rognlie of Fargo;  3 granddaughters:  Jennifer Snyder,  Brooke (Bryce) Vanderwerff and Aimee (Eric) Parson;  a great-granddaughter:  Taylor Vanderwerff;  2 sisters:  Donna (John) Olson of Devils Lake and Twila Hansen of Andover, MN;  a sister-in-law:  Phyllis Hermanson of Maddock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Joyce in death were her parents:  Elmer and Pearl Nottestad;  grandparents:  George and Alma Romig;  and 2 brothers-in-law:  Charles Hansen and Hjalmer Hermanson.

I have so many fond Memories of Joyce going back about 46 years.She was a very special,soft spoken,classy lady and a very good nurse.  I worked with Joyce for several years at the clinic and felt she took me under her wing.   she was a great friend.   I still have the dish towels she gave me one year for Christmas and I think of her every time I use them.  We will miss you my friend.   Sincere Sympathy to all family members.  Fran Schwab



Carrol and Family:  I am so sorry for your loss.  I worked with Joyce at Lake Region Clinic for several years.  We were special friends and she was a super nurse.  I remember some of the conversations we had over the years and just smile.  What a caring and wonderful person she was!!  She will be watching over us from above.  Treasure all the memories made over the years and remember that nothing can take them from you.  She loved you all so much and she will be missed tremendously by her family and friends.  Place all your trust in GOD to help you find comfort and strength to endure.  Love and Prayers to all.    Deb Quiring
