Karen Harper's Obituary
Karen K. Harper, 73, of Leeds, ND, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Sanford Health in Fargo. Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 25th, 2014, 11:00 AM at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Budd officiating. Burial will be later in the spring. Music for the service will be from Dan and MiChelle Nybo. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds is in charge of the arrangements.
Karen Kay Knutson was born February 13, 1940 at Leeds, ND to Dagfin and Lorraine (Halvorson) Knutson. She was raised on the farm South of York, ND and at the age of eleven the family moved to Penn, ND, then to Towner, ND where she graduated from High School in 1958. Karen then attended Bismarck Junior College and worked for an attorney in Towner for several years. She married Bobby Harper on September 13, 1963. The couple lived in Europe, Canada and throughout the United States. They were later divorced. Karen lived in Rugby for a time and later moved to Ceour de' Alene, Idaho for seven years. She returned to the farm near York and worked at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby. Karen cared for her mother for a number of years and moved to Wahpeton. After her mother's death, Karen returned to Leeds.
Karen was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Penn, ND.
Grateful for sharing her life are a daughter and son-in-law: Celeste and Eric Greenquist of Abercombie, ND; a granddaughter: Josephine (Mike) Hiti of Blaine, MN; nieces: Stacy (Geoff) Brooks in Illinois, Kristie (Randy) Axtman of Fargo and Lisa (Jeff) Coit of Harrisburg, SD; and a number of cousins and friends.
Preceding Karen in death were her parents and brother Lanny Knutson.
