Kathleen "Kay" E. Solberg, 92, of Welcome, MN and formerly of Leeds, ND, passed away peacefully at home in Welcome on October 7, 2020. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at the Brinsmade Lutheran Cemetery in rural Brisnmade, ND.

Kay was born in 1927 to James Harney and Nellie Holland Harney on the family farm in Leeds. She loved the country, farm life, and all things that involved caring for family. Kay taught school in her early adult life. She married Orvin Solberg, the literal boy next door and together they farmed their family land. Kay made the best homemade bread and loved to sew and garden. People who knew her well loved her sharp wit and dry humor. Kay was a devout Catholic, and attended church at St Vincent de Paul parish in Leeds.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Jackie Solberg of Leeds ND; grandchildren Brianne Luedtke, Welcome, MN; Elizabeth (Michael) Carter, Sanger, TX; Callista Wilkie, Manhattan, KS; and Wolfgang Wilkie, Fort Drum, NY, all of whom served or are currently serving in the US military (Army and Air Force). She is also survived by great-grandchildren Anakin, Leo, and Seeley (Luedtke) and Iris (Carter).
