A memorial service will be held at Leeds Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Jeff Kapelle officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds, ND. Visitation on Tuesday will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kellie was born March 27, 1962 to Pat (Broste) and Lloyd Hjelden at McVille, ND. She was raised and educated around the Lake Region. On April 15, 1981 she gave birth to a daughter, Jessica. She later met and married Leo Burris to which she had two more children; a son Patrick on March 7, 1983 and a daughter Amie on January 19, 1984. Later, she remarried to Brian Elverud and had a son, Joshua on December 12, 1989. She has been happily united with her soul mate Christopher Brossart since 2005.

Kellie had many extraordinary talents, and exceeded in anything she put her mind to. She found much joy in crafting, painting, golfing, singing, and the outdoors; but most of all in her family, and many friends. Kellie enjoyed every minute she shared with her grandchildren, they were the joy of her life. Kellie had a hearty, contagious laugh that was one of a kind. She was often seen with a mischievous smile and a twinkle in her eye.

She is survived by her grandmother Ila Halverson; parents: Pat and Lloyd Hjelden of Leeds; soul mate Christopher Brossart of Leeds; siblings: Kathy (Charles) Schwols of Bismarck, Wendy (Pat) Lawrence of Leeds, Pam (Rickey) Ross of Ada, OK, and Douglas (Sterling) Hjelden of Minot; her four children: Jessica Hjelden (Bryan Wilhelmi) of Devils Lake, Patrick (Kerrie) Burris of Tyndall Air Force Base, FL, Amie (Kenton) DeMontigny of Leeds, and Josh Elverud (Kayla Betz) of Leeds; grandchildren: Mason Wilhelmi, Maddison and Jaykob Burris, Kaleb, Khloe, and Kinley DeMontigny, Lilli Johnson, and Ryder Elverud; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She will be reunited in heaven with grandparents; Elmer and Isabelle Hjelden; cousin Rhonda Hjelden; brother-in-law, Neil Elverud; and niece, Savanna Nieman.

Kellie will be dearly missed.
