Kenneth Stuberg, 90, of Leeds, ND passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Devils Lake, ND. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds, ND with Pastors Sharon Baker and Michael Pretzer officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at the church. Music will be provided by Lucia Jacobson. Special music will be provided by selections from Ken & Dorothy's professional recordings. Burial will take place in the spring at the Leeds Lutheran Cemetery in Leeds, ND. Urn Bearers will be all of Ken's grandchildren and great grandchildren. Military honors will be provided by the Leeds American Legion Post #10, Robert Tovsrud VFW Post #747 of Harlow and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors team.
Kenneth Stuberg was born November 25, 1926 to Martin and Helga (Olsen) Stuberg in Leeds, ND. He grew up in Leeds, attended and graduated Leeds School with the class of 1945. Ken served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. In the Navy, he was shipped to the Philippines where he sang in the Navy band. Following his military service, Ken attended the Institute of Music in Chicago, IL He was united in marriage to Dorothy June Norberg on August 27, 1950 in Butte, ND. Ken had a career selling life insurance before joining his wife, Dorothy, in a gospel music ministry for 25 years.
Ken was a member of the American Legion Club and past President of the Lions Club. He was also Assistant Scoutmaster and lifelong member of the Leeds Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday school teacher and choir member. Ken was known for his humor! He enjoyed taking his sons fishing and hunting. Ken entered the Good Samaritan Society on January 11, 2017 where he passed away.
Ken lived the majority of his life in the home he was born in and always admired his widowed mother for rearing five boys on her own. He had a remarkable love for the Lord, his wife Dorothy, his family and for music. Ken once was quoted as saying: "If I ever had to choose between losing either my sight or my hearing, I would rather lose my sight because I just can't live without music."
Ken's loving family includes his daughter, Joan (Bob) Kippley of Cañon City, CO and her family Scott Aftem (Logan Aftem), Julie (Donald) Larson III ( Ella and Grace Larson); daughter, Jill (Larry) Tarang of Leeds, ND and her family Brian (Lacey) Tarang (Kemper, Paisley and Loghan Tarang), Brooke (Travis) Kirkeide (Anna Kirkeide and unborn baby), Brittnee (Chas) Wilson (Charlie Wilson), Brendan Tarang; son, Robert (Carolee) Stuberg of Helena, MT and his family Christopher (Whitney) Stuberg, Joshua Stuberg; son, Mark (Tracy) Stuberg of MN and his family Eric (Jessica) Stuberg (Roman, Kingston and Lachlan Stuberg), Alisha (Brandon) Bailey (Skylee, Harlow and Cash Bailey) and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Helga (Olsen) Stuberg; his wife, Dorothy June (Norberg) Stuberg; all four older brothers, Hillyer, Robert, Ernest and Louis Stuberg.
