Lee O. Larson, 81, of Leeds, ND,  died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.  Funeral services will be Monday, November 26, 2012,  10:00 AM  at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Budd officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7pm with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds.  Casket bearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law:  Sean Dunlap,  Joshua Kemmet,  Gary Phelps,  Richard Dunlap,  Patrick Dunlap,  Jason Krueger and Peter Krueger.

Lee Orin Larson was born April 15, 1931, the son of Lars and Evelyn (Pierson) Larson at Leeds, ND.  He was raised on the family farm in Lake Ibsen Township, rural Leeds, ND.  Lee attended elementary school and graduated from the Leeds High School in 1950.  He then attended NDAC in Fargo and enjoyed a lifetime of farming.  Lee married Dorthea Jagd – Dunlap in 1973. They were happily married for 36 years until her death on August 11, 2008.

Lee was active in the Leeds Lutheran Church,  Welcome Masonic Lodge #54 and Wild Rose Chapter #58 Order of Eastern Star of Churchs Ferry and the Devils Lake Shrine Club and the Republican Party, serving several years as district chairman.  He had served on the Lake Ibsen Township board and for several years on the State Health Council appointed by then Governor John Hoven.

Lee is survived by 3 step-children:  Robert (Maria) Dunlap and Jeff (Deborah) Dunlap all of Leeds and Laurie (Loren) Krueger of Grand Forks, ND;  8 grandchildren:  Sean (Heather Nesemeier) Dunlap,  Sarah (Joshua) Kemmet,  Erin (Gary) Phelps,  Kathryn Dunlap,  Richard Dunlap,  Patrick Dunlap,  Jason (SkyLyn) Krueger and Peter Kreuger;  6 great-grandchildren and a sister:  Lois Long of New Rockford, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Dorthea.

Lee was not only a favorite customer of mine, but he also became a good friend over the years. He was a man of great stories and wisdom, who always spoke very highly of his family.  I will miss not seeing him walk through my door with his "bank envelope" full of papers for me to look at, but I am blessed that I had a chance to get to know him.  My deepest sympathy for your loss.  Lori Frith
